Tom Huang is a multi-award-winning indie filmmaker and screenwriter. His last indie feature, “Why Am I Doing This?” has won Best Picture honors at festivals in Houston, Philadelphia and Hollywood, as well the Cinequest Director’s New Vision Award. The Boston Herald called it “a raucous look at life in Los Angeles for an actor...", while The Los Angeles Times wrote, "...the microbudget aesthetic charms… it's the more subdued moments that, for Huang at least, answer the titular question."
Tom, a Warner Brothers TV Workshop graduate, has also written for network sitcoms on ABC, CBS and UPN. He also has directed award-winning commercials and video content for companies such as FX, Universal, DirecTV and NFL Network.
Tom studied creative writing at UCLA, before going on to film school at Loyola Marymount University. His earlier film projects have won awards at the Chicago International Film Festival, the Rhode Island International Film Festival and Los Angeles Asian Film Festival.
Tom is a Film Independent Screenwriting Lab Fellow, where he developed his feature script “Dealing With Dad.” His web series, “Unusual Targets,”was featured at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and he is completing his next indie feature “Find Me.”
